BBC World Service – Newsday, She uses story-telling to improve health care in Uganda

Improving health systems is a daily challenge in countries where people don’t have much access to medical facilities. In Uganda, Rose Mary Nakama, a community nurse, has been using story-telling to help rural health workers become grass-roots advocates for health education in impoverished areas. She was inspired to do so after she survived a life threatening brain tumour when she was a child. Ms Nakame is one of the finalists of the 2019 Recognising Excellence around Champions of Health Awards. She has been speaking to Newsday’s Clare Mc Donnell.
