Serbia deploys army near border to protect against migrants

BELGRADE, Serbia —
Serbia has sent its military to a city come the border with Croatia where a full bunch of migrants dwell stranded in hopes of reaching the European Union.

The Defense Ministry said on Saturday that President Aleksandar Vucic ordered the troop deployment to “accept” three migrant camps come the western city of Sid that are housing some 1,500 folks, largely from Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Vucic said he ordered the deployment to defend the native population from alleged harassment and robberies committed by the migrants.

He told TV Prva that after a say of emergency imposed to fight the coronavirus spread in Serbia became once lifted earlier this month, the migrants began venturing out of doorways their camps, committing “petty crimes and illegal entries into properties.”

“On myth of of that folks are feeling unsafe,” Vucic said.
