George Osborne to step down from Evening Standard

Passe chancellor of the exchequer George Osborne is to stand down from his role as editor of London’s Evening Typical newspaper.

Osborne took on the job in March 2017, after having held the nation’s purse-strings from 2010-2016.

He’s being replaced by Emily Sheffield, who is a columnist on the newspaper, BBC Media Editor Amol Rajan confirmed.

He’s transferring to the role of the newspaper’s editor-in-chief.

Osborne’s other roles consist of chair of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership and he also holds a £650,000-a-year publish advising the investment fund BlackRock.

Rajan said the print title will proceed for now nonetheless its future is uncertain.

Final year he used to be made chairman of a panel of advisers to Exor, which owns the Italian football membership Juventus and has foremost stakes in Ferrari and Fiat Chrysler cars.

Osborne left authorities in 2016 after the Brexit referendum and he stood down as MP for Tatton in Cheshire in 2017.
